As a Postmodern Systemic therapists, I believe that all knowledge and truth is culturally, historically, and relationally constructed. Meanings emerges from interactions between and within the systems of our lives.
Systems are internal, relational, familial, societal, and spiritual. Language, words, perspectives, and interpretations influence how one’s identity is shaped and experienced.
There is no standards for normal development.
Depression and anxiety are coping strategies against dominant cultural discourse. Therapy is a process of working together to co-construct new truths relating to the client’s personal identity and relationship with the current struggle.
